When my son started to have separation anxiety at bedtime, it was straight after a vacation where he slept in the same bed as us for two weeks. We got back home, and he was no longer able to fall asleep on his own.

Then I moved away from his view but was still there for him to speak to me if needed. After this, I put him to bed alone, said goodnight, and left. There were times when he wasn’t happy, but I stuck to the plan, and it worked.
